A US Citizens Consultative Meeting for the

Please RSVP to info@citnet.org
and/or 301-770-6375.
In a few weeks the Third Global Preparatory Committee meeting for the
World Summit on Sustainable Development will begin (March 25-April 5).
Again governments from around the world will send their delegations
to New York to negotiate the final report on global progress on sustainability
since Rio.
While NGOs and other stakeholders had their few moments at the microphone
during the multistakeholder dialogue sessions, many are still finding
their way through the maze of paper and politics to send a clear message
to the US and the rest of the world's governments about what civil society
wants out of this process.
- How is the USA positioning itself regarding the "gap in implementation"
of Agenda 21?
- How "good" is the US definition of "good governance?"
- How good is the record?
- What do YOU want to see come out of the Summit?
- What message will or should US citizens bring to the upcoming PrepCom?
AGENDA
10:00 - 11:15 Briefing and discussion on US preparations with Jonathan
Margolies of the State Department and other members of the US Delegation
to the WSSD.
11:15 - 12:45 Discussion of US NGO strategies and plans for the upcoming
PrepCom (NGOs only!) What part are different groups playing in the process?
What is your group doing or want to do? What resources are available
to US NGOs to help them be effective as possible? What are the critical
priorities and opportunities for US NGOs at PrepCom 3?
Again, please RSVP to info@citnet.org
and/or call 301-770-6375
