Sustainability among Top Ten State Policy Issues in Higher Education

For 2009, "sustainability" is identified among the top ten policy issues viewed as having the greatest impact on public higher education institutions across the 50 states, according to the state policy analysis and research staff of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).

While the state's fiscal crisis is understandably at the top of the list, the issue of susainability has risen significantly in 2008 as a priority, "courtesy of record-high oil prices that peaked in July," global warming and the conflict in the Middle East.
